Right after, he started his career as an assistant coach at Southern Illinois. ´´I never knew that I wanted to be a coach until an opportunity was presented to me, ´´ he said, ´´after I kind of got into the job and into the position that I realized how much I really loved it and I It wasn't long after that, I decided I wanted it to be my career.”
It was in 2006 when he returned to Memphis and got his current job. Over the years, his athletes have won numerous awards. ´´My most memorable moment as a coach was when Luke Vaughn won the NCAA Division I discus title,´´ remarked Robinson.
Personally, he has also competed professionally for years, qualified for the Olympic Trials in the shot put and weightlifting in 2000. He still holds the record for the indoor shot put for college.
In the future he said he see himself in Memphis. ´´I've got twenty four years of my life, over half of my life invested into the University of Memphis in the track and field program, ´´ he said, ´´so I want to stay here. I want to continue to build on what we've started.´´
